Suma is a workers’ cooperative - a radical and progressive business managed and owned by its dedicated workforce. We supply a huge range of fairly traded, ethical and organic products, which reflect our commitment to customer satisfaction and quality.

From canned foods to recycled paper products, from dried foods to toiletries, Suma is passionate about offering ethically produced food you can trust.

Our product range is carefully selected to promote healthy and sustainable lifestyles, balancing your needs with the needs of our planet.

As for me: I was born 1967, grew up, left school at sixteen thanks to a geography master (who also happened to be the Careers Master, as it was in the mid eighties, I just wish I'd known how much work a B Ed' didn't entail back then) who asked what I wanted to do when I left school, I said I didn't know so he asked what me father did and I said "I think he's an engineer or something" "right we'll get you an apprenticeship" quoth he, cue 4 years learning how to turn, mill and weld great lumps of metal before I thought I've had enough of this.

I went back to college and so followed six years of blissful academia, in which I became extremely well qualified in business studies with a particular aptitude for marketing and advertising. Following university I meandered through a number of stuff none of which was very inspiring, then I saw a peculiar little advert about a worker co-op looking for "members" neither term meant anything to me.

That was nearly nine years ago, I have always had an obsession with food as I spent a good deal of my life as a bodybuilder and power-lifter and as such your diet is very limited so you tend to obsess about food and its component parts.

I've spent most of my time at Suma in a sales role either marketing, account management, business development, business consultancy, customer services and PR. I have been published in many an illustrious organ from the heady heights of The Grocer and The Guardian to the true mark of greatness that is The Dalesman.

I live in the quaint village that is Elland, with my daughter, I enjoy Korean cinema, Japanese food, golf and going to the gym (not all at the same time) and also have a peculiar affinity to werewolves, I own pretty much every werewolf film ever made no matter how rubbish, and maintain a healthy interest in all things cryptozoological.

When I retire, hopefully soon, I will be heading to Aegina in Greece where I shall hold court like Scaramanga in The Man With The Golden Gun.
