Paul Bourgeois is an award winning local Government Environmental Research & Energy Officer who was, until July 2006, working for two Norfolk local Council’s.
He has recently become Mass Market Renewables Development Director at Renewables East. The Region’s Renewable Energy Agency covering the 6 counties of East Anglia.
In 2005 he was awarded ‘Energy Officer of the Year’ for the eastern region, in recognition of his energy conservation work, especially concerning the use of solar power.
He came up with the idea of the BroadSol Solar Water Heating research programme, to produce data on the savings associated with free energy from the sun. He also helps to organise workshops for householders to self install solar water heating systems. Previously, he had won two ‘green apple’ best practice awards.
Paul gained an Environmental Science degree at De Montfort University, Leicester in 1997 and is currently working on a doctorate research programme at the University of East Anglia, Norwich, looking at the carbon saving & financial benefits associated with retro-fitting insulation measures to domestic properties.
He began his career helping to establish recycling schemes and since 1999 has been involved with projects looking at energy conservation and climate change.
Paul harbours a green dream - he has recently sold his house while he rents and aspires to build a flagship eco-house for his wife and daughter.
